The beautiful Andalusian Ana Lucía Rivera is new to the modeling scene, but she has everything to become one of the most sought-after models.
In the Slavic dolls era, her exotic Andalusian beauty is a real refreshment. But her exotic beauty is not the only thing that makes her unique, but also her 90s supermodel looks, her sweetness, her grace, her poise… And she answered all our questions with her soft, sweet voice and with maturity, honesty and class.
How old are you?
I turned 16 in March.
How would you describeyourself? Pretty private, easygoing, shy and not that confident.
Did you complete school? Not yet, but I will.
How did you begin modeling? I was at the show jumping competition in Málaga, the modeling agent approached me and asked me if I wanted to be a model. At first I wasn’t interested and I said no. She left me her number in case I change my mind… And I did change my mind. I decided to take the opportunity and give modeling a try… So here I am.
Did you know much about modeling beforeyou were scouted? I was shocked; I knew nothing about modeling, but I’m glad I gave modeling a chance because it’s so much fun and I’m excited about being old enough towalk in Fashion Week.
What are you wearning for castings? Jeans, white shirt, sneakers and minimal makeup. I like to feel comfortable.
What was your first modeling job? Editorial. I was so nervous.
Have you encountered any surprises along the way? Yes! It’s not how they portray it.
What are some of the perks of being a model? Jumping into another roles. It’s fun to embody something nice. And being around other girls who are built like you. At school I was never bullied for being too skinny, too pale… but I felt insecure about being that way, about looking that way.
What do your parents think about your career? At first they were not thrilled with my decision to be a model, but they gave me their approval because they trust me and because my mom accompanies me everywhere. So they support me, but if I ever pose naked they will disown me [laughs].
Are you getting used to the attention? Not really, but it’s getting easier.
How is it being represented by IMAGEN? They are great. They are always understanding of my age and supportive of my education.
Do you have a mentor? Who? Why? Yes, my agent Catalina and my mom who went through a lot and can help me with her experiences.
You’re newbie, but how has your diet changed since you became a model? Do you have an established workout routine yet? My diet hasn’t changed. I’ve always eaten healthy, fresh, homemade food. So I’m sticking to that. And yes, I have established workout routine. In fact, I have been exercising since I was 10 years old. And I also had a belly dance choreography[laughs].
Who’s the biggest influence in your life? My parents. We are really close.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like being at home, being with my loved ones and having a good time with them.Watching TV, going for a walk, riding my horse, working out… Cuddling my cat.
Your family owns a horse farm and you are a talented rider, do you have any duties on the farm? Every chance I get, I’m out at the barn, but I have no duties on the farm like givinglessons, mucking stalls, or breaking and training the foals.
Ever get tempted to get pulled into the party scene? No.
What’s it like being in New York? It’s beautiful. I like it.
Could you speak English well when youarrived? Yes, I am Spaniard, my roots are in Spain, but I was born in San Clemente, California and lived there until I was 5 years old, when my parents decided to return to Spain.
Everything about you is so innocent. Surely you must have some vices? Yes, I do. I like to eat fast food (french fries, hamburgers) and I love desserts. I’m not much of a sweet tooth, but my guilty pleasure is chocolate desserts.
